Wendy was one of the four Surinamese nurses who started working in the Netherlands as Healthcare Assistants. She is still working there after almost four years, and she is just as happy as on her first day at work.

That is certainly what you could call the first group. Ambassadors for the nurses from Suriname. “Mr. Ton: you may only select the best. We have presented our calling card here, and the new people must not ruin that.” That was literally what Wendy said to me when I came to visit them after two months.
I came into contact with CareVisie from Velp in early 2023. They specialize in recruiting and selecting Surinamese healthcare professionals for Dutch healthcare organizations and hospitals. In an ethical and responsible manner, they seek a bright future for these nurses. I started helping them using my network in the healthcare sector, and have been doing so professionally for over three years now.
In Suriname, they are all nurses, but due to laws and regulations, they start in the Netherlands as Certified Caregivers (Verzorgende IG). For these ladies, that was no obstacle at all. In Suriname, their future was fairly bleak, and here they receive the appreciation they deserve, plus the opportunity to grow further. The first group was the pioneer for what eventually became nearly fifty nurses who started working as Certified Caregivers (Verzorgende IG) at various branches of a large healthcare organization in Limburg.
I can still clearly remember when they arrived at Schiphol. I was in the car at 6:30 AM when I went to pick them up. Four ladies were already standing there waiting with lots of suitcases and big smiles on their faces. Moving to the Netherlands was already a major cultural change, but when we drove into the Limburg hills after a two-hour drive, they fell silent. So, this is where we are going to live and work…
It is not out of luxury that people from abroad seek a job in the Netherlands. These ladies left their family and friends behind, but what they brought with them was their big heart for care.
I started doing this work to offer these healthcare professionals a bright future in the Netherlands, but also to give our family members, our loved ones in a nursing home, the warm and heartfelt culture from abroad.
These amazing women joined De Zorggroep Limburg and are still working there with great pleasure.
